In Memoriam: Colman 'Coke' Sanders

Colman L. 'Coke' Sanders, age 91, of Canal Fulton, passed away early Sunday morning, June 7, 2015.

Born in Evansville, Indiana, Coke spent his boyhood in the village of Turner, Maine, before arriving in Massillon in his mid-teens. He attended Massillon Washington High School until enlisting in the Army during World War II. He completed his studies while in the service, honorably serving with the 835 Engineer Aviation Battalion in the EAME Theater.

Following his time in the service, Coke joined his father and older brother, Pitt, in what was to become the family business, Progressive Chevrolet (now Progressive Auto Group), where he held the positions of Vice President and Auto Dealer until his retirement. He loved his wife and family and cherished the time they spent together. A dedicated steward of creation, he especially enjoyed the outdoors and the opportunities to camp and fish.

Coke is survived by his children: Dan (Corinne) Sanders, Ted (Gloria) Sanders and Sue (David) Underwood; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

His wishes were for a private, family service and burial. Memorial contributions in his name may be made in care of The USO of Northern Ohio, 20637 Emerald Parkway, Cleveland, Ohio 44135. To sign the on-line guestbook, please visit www.atkinsonfeucht.com.
