FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio franchised dealers sold 18,957 new motor vehicles in August, a slight decrease compared to the same month last year. Sales in the region were off by 0.79 percent last month according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), while year to date numbers remain ahead, beating 2024 by 7.09 percent.
“Northern Ohio August sales matched 2024, leaving the market at just over seven percent ahead through 2025,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “We have outpaced the nation to date, but feel that in the second half of the year – especially the last quarter – the pace will slow.”
“Lower interest rates could carry sales higher through the third and fourth quarters if there is a change. All in all, we still anticipate single digit growth in new car sales through the end of the year.”
Chevrolet continues to top the region’s leaderboard, selling 2,678 new vehicles in August. Ford remains in second place with 2,132 new vehicle registrations in the month. Kia maintains the third spot with 1,761 sales, just ahead of Honda’s 1,694. Toyota rounds out the top five with 1,541 sales.
