Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio dealers sold 18,298 new vehicles last month, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA). Comparing sales to the same month a year prior, December 2025 was off by 1.63 percent.

For the year to date, franchised new motor vehicle dealers registered a total of 229,118 cars, trucks and SUVs. Compared to 2024, sales growth rounded out the year ahead by 4.52 percent.

“As anticipated, 2025 new vehicle sales in the region grew by a single digit percentage,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “Looking ahead, we foresee similar results as demand, affordability, and tariff implications affect purchase decisions in 2026.”

Chevrolet remains Northern Ohio’s best-selling brand, with 2,616 new vehicles sold in December. Ford comes in second with 2,151 sales in the region. Toyota held onto third place by selling 1,656 vehicles. Honda and Kia round out the top five with 1,519 and 1,458 sales, respectively.

Retail sales figures are based on vehicle registration reports from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Vehicle sales data includes all dealers in these 21 counties: Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne.
