Safety Awareness For Employees (SAFE)
Health and Environmental concerns have taken the forefront in legislative enactments. These laws place a heavy burden on businesses to create an environment that is safe, both to individuals and the planet. For dealerships this means following the Occupational Safety and Health Act (or OSHA) and the Hazard Communication Standard (or HAZCOM).
SAFE is a program designed to help your dealership create a safe and healthy work environment and comply with OSHA regulations. SAFE will also help to reduce your workers’ compensation claims, OSHA fines, injuries and associated costs, and it will help to improve employee morale and loyalty. Today, when OSHA penalties can go as high as $70,000 and up to six months in jail per violation, can your dealership really afford to be without SAFE?
The Safety Awareness For Employees (SAFE) Program was developed by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers Association to aid you in following OSHA and HAZCOM standards. Your participation in the Safety Awareness For Employees Program includes everything you will need to comply with OSHA rule and regulations.
SAFE includes a comprehensive and easily understandable program manual. The manual includes modules and easy-to-follow guides that cover:

SAFE provides:
- HAZCOM Training for all new employees available online on-demand.
- Emergency Health and Safety Supervisor Training, at least twice a year.
- A yearly Safety Audit, done in your dealership, which helps to identify problem safety areas. The audit assists you and the GCADA auditor in coming up with a corrective action program designed specifically for your dealership to address those problem areas.
- A yearly Program Audit, done in your dealership, which reviews all written materials required by OSHA, including but not limited to your SDS, and HAZCOM Programs.
- OSHA and Program Updates on a regular basis.
- A trained GCADA staff member who will be available to help you with any OSHA inspection.
