GCADA Schedules A Free Advertising Review Seminar

GCADA Schedules A Free Advertising Review Seminar

GCADA Schedules A Free Advertising Review
Program Seminar

Since its inception in January 2004, the Advertising Review Program continues to monitor and send notifications to members regarding potential advertising violations in print, including direct mail, and electronic media.  Since it has been over a year and a half since our last meeting, your Association in conjunction with the Ohio Attorney General Office, will be conducting a free Advertising Review Program seminar on July 12, 2005.  To assist in the demand for this seminar, we will be offering two sessions, 9:00 A.M. to 11:30 and 1:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M.

This seminar will help dealers understand all they need to know about complying with Ohio’s Consumer Sales Practices Act relating to the advertisement and sale of motor vehicles. Further, during the seminar we will introduce and explain the changes to the advertising rules with regard to the clear and conspicuous standard for disclosures and the proposed position/examples on advertising a price with limited rebates.  Included in the presentation will be an explanation of the new disclosures that are required by the Federal Trade Commission when advertising a Firm Offer of Credit, which are effective August 1, 2005.

As a reminder, the advertising program guidelines requires GCADA to refer, to the Attorney General, advertising violations in situations where a dealer is unresponsive to a notice or violates the same advertising provision three times within a six-month period.  Therefore, your support and cooperation for this self-regulation program is imperative.
