1934 Chevrolet Takes Home “Car of the Show” at the
Classic Car Competition of the Cleveland Auto Show

Cleveland, OH (March 8, 2014) — A 1934 Chevrolet owned by Don and Viki Campbell of Vermilion took home “Car of the Show” at the Cleveland Auto Show’s 16th Annual Classic Car Competition. The winner was announced at 2 p.m. today at the I-X Center by Ed Babcock, chairman of the Cleveland Auto Show and fourth generation owner of the Junction Auto Family Dealerships in Chardon.

“The Classic Car Competition is always one of the favorite attractions at the Cleveland Auto Show,” said Babcock. “This year was one of the fiercest competitions in recent memory. I’d like to congratulate Don and Viki on winning ‘Car of the Show’ with their 1934 Chevrolet. It’s simply a beautiful vehicle inside and out. You have only one more day to see it at the Cleveland Auto Show.”

As winner of the Classic Car Competition, Don and Viki Campbell took home a cash prize of $1,000 courtesy of the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association and Westfield Insurance.

In addition to the “Car of the Show” five runners up were also named, each receiving a cash prize of $200. These included: Lou Morganti of Walton Hills with his 1956 Thunderbird; Tim Friend of Brooklyn with his 1969 Plymouth GTX; Jerry Haeberle of Cleveland with his 1957 Chevrolet; Ted Pavlin of Parma with his 1937 Ford and Pat Patrick of Brunswick with his 1972 GMC Pickup.

“All of the vehicles recognized here today represent the very best in classic restorations or hot rod builds,” added Karen Ford, manager of the Classic Car Competition. “Every one of the vehicles here is also a winner. Just being selected to be in the competition is an achievement. And every vehicle in our competition represents a significant investment on the part of their owners. Each year, it gets tougher and tougher to select the vehicles that appear in the Classic Car Competition.”

To be eligible, vehicles must be 25 years old or older.

You can see Viki and Don Campbell’s 1934 “Car of the Show” Chevrolet at the Cleveland Auto Show until 10 p.m. tonight. You can also see it tomorrow, Sunday, March 9, which is the last day of the show. The doors open tomorrow at 11 a.m. The Cleveland Auto Show closes its doors for 2014 at 8 p.m. tomorrow.
