DECEMBER NORTHEAST OHIO AUTO SALES END ON A POSITIVE NOTE
Cleveland, OH (January 14, 2010) – According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), December 09 v. December 08 new vehicle car and truck sales increased almost 7%. The increase in sales is due in part to strong new vehicle sales. Ford led all automakers in December and year to date Northeast Ohio sales.
“The December sales show a slight uptick as the market begins a gradual recovery. We remain optimistic that sales will continue to be positive in 2010, however at a slower pace than we would like.” says Lou Vitantonio, President of the GCADA.
20 Brands Up Dec. (09 v. 08)
The following twenty brands posted sales increases in December 09 versus December 08: BMW, Buick, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Mini, Nissan, Porsche, Saab, Subaru, Toyota and Volkswagen.
3 Brands Up Year-to-Date
Through December, 2009, three brands posted year-to-date sales increases in the region. They remain: Hyundai, Kia and Subaru.

Retail sales figures are based on vehicle registration reports from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Vehicle sales data includes the counties of: Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne.
