APRIL SALES CONTINUE STRONG
 
Cleveland, OH (May 10, 2010) – According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), April 10 v. April 09 new vehicle car and truck sales increased 27% when removing sales statistics for the Hummer, Pontiac and Saturn brands.  New vehicle sales year to date increased 16% in YTD April 10 v. YTD April 09 (Statistics for the Hummer, Pontiac and Saturn brands were removed). Ford continued to lead all automakers followed by Toyota and Chevrolet for Northern Ohio new vehicle sales.
 
“Motor Vehicle sales in the region continue to show signs of improvement as our industry steadily recovers.  Consumers are beginning to make substantial purchases as the overall economic climate improves.  We expect this trend to continue as we look forward to a strong May selling month. ” says Louis A. Vitantonio, Jr., President of the GCADA.
 
23 Brands Up April (‘10 v. ‘09)
The following twenty-three brands posted sales increases in April ‘10 versus April ‘09: Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
 
21 Brands Up Year-to-Date
Through April, 2010, twenty-one brands posted year-to-date sales increases in the region.  They are: Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mercury, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Subaru, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo.
