NORTHEAST OHIO SALES GAINS ANCHORED BY LUXURY BRANDS

Cleveland, OH (October 14, 2010) – According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), September 10 v. September 09 new vehicle car and truck sales increased more than 14% when removing sales statistics for the Hummer, Pontiac and Saturn brands.  New vehicle sales year to date increased over 13% YTD September 10 v. September 09. Ford continued to lead all automakers followed by Chevrolet, Toyota and Honda for Northern Ohio new vehicle sales.

“Numerous brands, specifically the luxury vehicle segments, are continuing to see gradual, but steady growth in the Northern Ohio market," says Louis A. Vitantonio, Jr., President of the GCADA. “Consumers are certainly willing to spend, albeit cautiously. The incremental gains we are seeing should ultimately result in a sustainable recovery and a healthy, productive automotive industry.”

22 Brands Up September (‘10 v. ‘09)

The following twenty-two brands posted sales increases in September ‘10 versus September ‘09: Acura, Audi, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Dodge, Ford, GMC, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Jeep, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mini, Mitsubishi, Saab, Subaru and Toyota.

22 Brands Up Year-to-Date

Through September, 2010, twenty-two brands posted year-to-date sales increases in the region.  They are: Acura, Audi, BMW, Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Ford, GMC, Honda, Hyundai, Infiniti, Jaguar, Kia, Land Rover, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

Retail sales figures are based on vehicle registration reports from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles.  Vehicle sales data includes the counties of: Ashland, Ashtabula, Carroll, Columbiana, Coshocton, Cuyahoga, Erie, Geauga, Holmes, Huron, Lake, Lorain, Mahoning, Medina, Portage, Richland, Stark, Summit, Trumbull, Tuscarawas and Wayne.
