ROBUST NOVEMBER AUTO SALES POINT TO STRONG FINISH FOR 2010

Cleveland, OH (December 13, 2010) – According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), for November 2010 v. November 2009, new vehicle car and truck sales increased by 39.41% when removing sales statistics for the discontinued Hummer, Pontiac and Saturn brands. A total of 28 automotive brands registered increases over the monthly period, while new vehicle sales year to date through November increased 16.42%. Ford continued to lead all automakers in total new vehicle sales in Northern Ohio, followed by Chevrolet, Honda and Toyota.

“This is the third straight month that we have seen strong double-digit growth in sales,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, Jr., president of the GCADA. “All signs point to an uptick in sales through the end of the year. While there is still much work that needs to be done to restore the industry to its once record levels, these figures set the stage for an even stronger recovery in 2011.”

For the second straight month, Chrysler and Jeep sales grew by triple digits, when comparing November 2010 against the same month a year prior. Dodge sales continued to grow at a rate approaching 90% during that time as well. The top three sales leaders in Northern Ohio, Ford, Chevrolet and Honda, grew by 42.06%, 28.5% and 36.6% respectively.

Ten luxury brands also showed strong growth over the same period, including Acura, Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Infiniti, Land Rover, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Saab. Saab was the fastest growing brand, registering a growth of more than 287% over the period. Cadillac also achieved tripe digit growth of 115% when comparing November of 2010 against November of 2009. Infiniti enjoyed robust growth of almost 70% during the same period.

In offshore brands, sales of Hyundai and Kia continued to grow at a blistering pace, both brands registering growth of over 85 percent when comparing November 2010 with 2009. Mitsubishi enjoyed growth of over 115 percent over the period as well.
