First Respondents Safety Seminar offers
insight into challenges of new vehicle technology

Cleveland, OH (January 31, 2011) —With the technology in today’s vehicles changing faster and faster, it’s imperative that first respondents and emergency personnel know how to deal with new technology. Keeping up with all the changes in propulsion systems is nearly impossible.

In an attempt to help EMTs and other emergency personnel on the front line, the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association has invited first respondents and other emergency personnel from across Northern Ohio to participate in a free seminar at the Cleveland Auto Show entitled, “Handling of Air Bags, Dealing with Hybrid Crashes and This Year’s New Technology in Automobiles.”

The event is slated for Thursday, March 3 at the Cleveland Auto Show at the I-X Center. The seminar begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. But due to the highly technical nature of the presentation and the importance of the information being covered, the seminar is only open to first respondents by invitation only. However, the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association, as host of the event, will help credentialed press representatives schedule interviews with seminar presenters either before or after the seminar.

Tim Berczik will be the primary presenter at this seminar. Berczik teaches in the Fire Science/Emergency Services Department at Stark State College, and is a Captain of an Engine Company for the Jackson Twp. Fire Department. He teaches at the Ohio Fire Academy in Reynoldsburg, OH. Berczik will be assisted by Matt Buca, General Motors STC Instructor at Stark State College in North Canton, OH. Stark State College is a factory-authorized training center for all General Motors, Toyota and Honda dealerships.

If you would like to know more about this seminar, or would like to know a little more about the challenges first respondents and emergency personnel face when they visit a crash site involving hybrids, electric cars and other vehicles with advanced technological propulsion systems by attending this seminar, contact Dennis Rose at drose@gcada.org.
