New Vehicle Sales Climb Over 18 Percent in
September, Year-to-date Sales Above 10 percent

Cleveland, OH (October 8, 2013) – Sales of new vehicles showed robust growth in September with franchised new car and truck dealerships across Northern Ohio ringing up a sales increase of 18.54 percent over the same month a year prior, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA). For the year-to-date, sales of new cars and trucks in Northern Ohio are up 10.61 percent through the end of September.

“Overall, Northern Ohio vehicle sales continued to show improvement, posting double digit growth over 2012,” said Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. ”In order to continue the momentum, economic and political stability will need to return for the last quarter of 2013.”

Franchised new car and truck dealerships from the 21 counties served by the GCADA rang up sales of 20,341 vehicles in September of this year, compared to 17,159 sold in September of 2012. For the year-to-date, franchised dealerships in the same region have sold 177,439 vehicles this year versus 160,425 sold during the same time frame in 2012.
