New Vehicle Sales
Rocket Upward in November

Cleveland, OH (December 11, 2015) –  Despite having two fewer sales days than last November, sales of new vehicles rocketed upward in November, rising almost 15 percent when comparing the month to the same time a year ago. According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), franchised new car and truck dealers across Northern Ohio sold 17,661 vehicles last month, compared to 15,395 in November of last year, an increase of 14.7 percent.

The dramatic rise was unexpected.

“This is a welcome surprise,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “To have this strong a month this late in the year is unusual. The strong return of leasing, easy and available financing and low fuel prices have combined to create a swing in the market of more than 17 percent, considering we were three percent off in November of 2014, but are up over 14 percent this year.”

For the year to date, new vehicle sales are up 2.41 percent. Dealers in Northern Ohio have sold 231,186 vehicles so far this year, compared to 225,750 vehicles at the same time in 2014.

Northern Ohio’s bestselling brand held on to its leadership position, selling 2,810 vehicles in the month, an increase of 14.6 percent over 2014. Chevrolet closed the gap on its domestic rival, ringing up sales of 2,545 vehicles, an increase of 27.57 percent for the month. For the second straight month, Toyota bested its rival Honda, selling 1,666 vehicles compared to Honda’s 1,360 vehicles sold in the month. Jeep sold 1,091 vehicles, an increase of more than 23 percent over November of 2014.
