News Release: October Vehicle Registrations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cleveland, OH – According to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), franchised motor vehicle dealers sold 15.67 percent more new vehicles in October, when comparing last month to a soft 2022. For the year to date, 2023 sales in Northern Ohio topped last year by 7.45 percent.

18,938 new cars, trucks and SUVs were sold in October of 2023, while used vehicle sales totaled 17,946. When compared to the same month a year prior, used vehicle registrations were off by 0.57 percent.

“The Northern Ohio market continued growth in both new and used vehicle sales in October,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “In addition, we did not see much of an effect on vehicle sales from the recently ended UAW strikes, as many of the dealerships had sufficient inventory to satisfy consumer need. We still see some pent-up demand in the region; however, affordability continues to weigh on the market.”

Chevrolet remains solidly at the top of the leaderboard, with 2,714 new vehicle sales in October. The region’s second best-selling brand was Ford with 2,195 sales in the month. Moving into third place is Toyota with 1,784 new vehicles sold, just ahead of Honda’s 1,715 sales. Kia rounds out the top five, reporting 1,526 new registrations.
