FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio franchised new motor vehicle dealers reported a total of 19,107 sales last month, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA). August is now the second-highest sales month of 2024, although off by 2.89 percent when compared to the same month in 2023. For the year to date, the region gained 2.28 percent over the prior year’s registrations.
“New vehicle sales remain on track against robust numbers from August 2023,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “With high incentives and discounts, consumers are seeing better values on new vehicle purchases. As vehicle inventory has returned to normal levels, prices have come down in order to move the prior-year models in preparation for the arrival of 2025s.”
“We are hoping to see interest rate relief soon, to provide additional help to spur both new and used vehicle sales, for a strong close to 2024.”
Chevrolet is yet again the region’s top-selling brand, with 2,510 new vehicles sold in August. Ford remains in second with 2,372 new vehicle sales in the month, followed by Honda with 1,803 for third place. Kia held onto fourth with 1,633 sales, and Toyota just made the top five with 1,249 sales, beating Subaru’s 1,238.
