News Release: February New Vehicle Registrations

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Cleveland, OH – Northern Ohio franchised dealers sold 14,428 new motor vehicles in February 2026, according to figures released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA). Compared to the same month a year prior, sales declined by 4.32 percent in the region.

For the year to date, new vehicle sales of 31,798 marked a 7.89 percent decrease compared to the first two months of 2025. Used vehicle sales saw an increase of 3.23 percent in the 21-county region of Northern Ohio last month, as pre-owned inventory levels increase.

“The beginning of February was hampered by unrelenting winter weather, keeping consumers from visiting dealerships,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “Sales resulting from the 2026 Cleveland Auto Show, which ended March 1, are not yet fully processed, and we anticipate an uptick as the show jumpstarts the spring selling season in Northern Ohio.”

“Affordability continues to be an obstacle for customers shopping for a new vehicle, and will be a challenge throughout 2026.”

Chevrolet was once again Northern Ohio’s best-selling brand, with a total of 2,076 new vehicles sold. Ford’s sales of 1,602 keeps the brand second place, while Honda remains in third with 1,339 new vehicle sales. For fourth and fifth, Kia nudged ahead of Toyota last month with 1,272 and 1,152 sales, respectively.
