FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cleveland, OH – With sales of 20,758 new motor vehicles in Northeast Ohio last month, franchised dealers recorded a 0.91 percent increase compared to July of last year. According to data released today by the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association (GCADA), year to date sales of 132,911 represent a 2.53 percent decrease for 2026, compared to 2025 figures.
“New vehicle sales matched 2025's July sales, with a slight increase,” says Louis A. Vitantonio, president of the GCADA. “The region is mirroring the national average, an increase in July, which is still off pace year to date, as affordability continues to be a headwind.”
“The Northern Ohio market is being driven by buyers that aren't as affected by affordability issues. The used vehicle segments continue to slide, as transaction prices remain high.”
Used vehicle sales of 17,568 in July 2026 are down by 4.86 percent compared to the same month last year, and year to date sales totaling 121,139 reflect a decrease of 1.43 percent from 2025.
Ranking Northern Ohio’s best-selling brands, Chevrolet remains firmly in the lead with 3,009 sales in July. Ford’s sales of 2,260 vehicles just manage hold onto second place, ahead of Honda’s 2,225 sales. Kia and Toyota follow, with 1,821 and 1,735 sales, respectively.
