Group Health Plan Introduction
The Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association has a Group Health Plan available to all members. The Group Health Plan is self-funded; premiums paid into the Plan are used to pay claims. Dealers can offer their employees medical and prescription drug coverage, dental, vision, and life insurance. Dealer participation has continued to increase due to favorable rates. Rates are generally much lower than comparable plans.
Although the Group Health Plan has been in existence for over thirty years, several changes occurred on January 1, 1999. GCADA contracted with Medical Mutual of Ohio. The Association uses Medical Mutual’s highly discounted rates to pay member claims. Medical Mutual’s care management and medical review programs assure patients with serious health problems get the proper care. Prescription coverage is provided through Express Scripts. They are a national organization and negotiate substantial discounts for the Association from drug manufacturers.
The Association has an in-house benefits administrator for the Group Health Plan to provide personalized service to dealers and their employees. The benefits administrator has the capability to view claims on-line. Members have a dedicated “problem solver” to answer questions, look up and explain claim payments, find out the reason a claim hasn’t been paid and make corrections as needed, often when the member is still on the phone.
The cost of health care continues to be a major issue in everyone’s mind. The Association is committed to providing members with quality health benefits at a reasonable cost.
